Personal Biometric Privacy

Your face is not a dataset.

Consumer devices with cameras and AI can now capture you without your knowledge or consent, and face-search software can put a name to a face in seconds. CloakDots® is developing the tools to give you control over your own biometric identity.

Who you are should be introduced, not extracted.

Building the technology layer for Personal Biometric Privacy.

Personal Biometric Privacy is what we're building toward: your right to decide, for yourself, when a device is allowed to know who you are — starting with the smart glasses and camera equipped consumer wearables already capturing faces without asking.

Consumer Privacy Engineering is how we get there: wearable technology, digital tools and innovative physical materials, being designed to work at the point of capture, before an image becomes data. Today the wearable is a prototype, being tested in low light, and the materials are in research.

We are building for a future in which privacy is not simply a setting you switch on. It is something you can actively choose, carry and control.

Consumer Privacy Engineering

We are engineering the technology layer for personal biometric privacy. The next generation of privacy will not exist only in policies, permissions or privacy settings. It will exist in the technologies people use, wear and carry. CloakDots is researching and engineering the tools that make personal biometric privacy possible in an AI-enabled world.

Privacy by Design

Detect. Protect. Disrupt. Three areas of development, one objective: privacy engineered into the technologies people already use, wear and carry.

Privacy Needs Infrastructure

The world is building smarter devices that can see, hear and interpret us. CloakDots is engineering the technology layer designed to give people more agency in return.

The Biometric Data Flow

  1. 01 Detect

    Awareness of the environment

Understanding the consumer AI devices and signals around you.

  2. 02 Protect

    Your privacy layer

Digital and physical technologies designed to give you visibility, choice and control.

  3. 03 Disrupt

Privacy at the point of capture

Innovative material and physical technologies being developed to influence biometric readability. Today the wearable is a prototype, being tested in low light, and the materials are in research.

Privacy by Design
  • Point of capture

Designed to act before biometric information becomes usable data.

  • Updatable

Built to be updated as AI models and consumer devices change.

  • Hardware-level

Privacy engineered into the physical world, alongside the technologies people use daily.

The Human Connection

We are living through a period of technological change so rapid that the rules of human interaction are being rewritten before we have had a chance to agree to them. One of those rules, one of the oldest, is the right to introduce yourself. To choose what you reveal. To meet another person on equal terms. To decide when you are identified. That right is now at risk. Not from governments. Not from institutions. From the consumer devices in the room.

Before you speak. Before you choose. Before the moment of introduction has even begun, face-search software can already put a name to your face and find your social profile. The introduction you never gave. This is not a surveillance problem. It is a human one. CloakDots exists to give you back a say in when you are identified, on your terms.

The CloakDots Technology Architecture

Three layers. One objective: Personal Biometric Privacy.

  1. 01

    Detect

    Consumer AI Environment Awareness

Understanding the technologies around us. Research and development into how consumer AI devices, including smart glasses, wearable cameras and other AI-enabled technologies, can be identified and understood in real-world environments.

  2. 02

    Protect

    Personal Privacy Intelligence

Giving individuals greater visibility and control. Developing digital tools and privacy technologies that help people understand their biometric exposure and make more informed choices about how they navigate an increasingly AI-enabled world.

  3. 03

    Disrupt

    Consumer Privacy Engineering

Developing physical and material technologies designed to operate at the point of capture, exploring new ways to influence biometric readability before information becomes usable biometric data. Today the wearable is a prototype, being tested in low light, and the materials are in research.

Designed for Consumer Privacy

CloakDots is developing for people and the consumer technologies they encounter in everyday life, from smart glasses and camera equipped wearables to emerging AI-enabled devices.

Our main focus is consumer devices — smart glasses, wearable cameras, ambient sensors in everyday life. Today, CloakDots focuses on consumer and commercial environments, while continuing to develop technology with broader applications as the category evolves.
